While
he was staying in Moskow
for a qualification match
against Russia Bata
received visitors very
dear to his heart;
Fenerbahce fans. The
organisation of fans is
called Association of
Fenerbahce fans in Moskow
and they are the only
foreign fan club in
Moskow. They have 130
member and since not a
lot of Turkish people
live in Russia, this
number is rather high.
Their official openning
was made by the
president of Fenerbahce
sport kilubu on 7th
of October 2000. That was
the first time in history
that a Fenerbahce
president opened a fan
club in a foreign
country. As they
learned that Bata and
Laza would come to
Moscow, the Russian
member of executive
committe got in touch
with the Yugoslavian
embassy in Moscow. Their
reaction was very
positive. When the team
arrived at the
Mezhdunarodnaya hotel,
Yugoslavian diplomat
informed them about thier
arrival and their friend
immediately went there
and found players. They
said they could see them
at 10.00 pm that day.
Although it was a bit
late some 10 - 15 of them
went to the hotel wearing
Fenerbahce shirts. When
Bata and Laza were coming
out of the restuarant
they started singing
their names. When they
got near they told them
who they were and gave
them flowers, their
association's shirts,
overcoats and coffee
mugs. Bata and Laza were
happy to see them. Bata
said he knew that they
had a banner (in Russian)
in Istanbul's Sukru
Saracoglu stadium. |
